Travel Supermarket’s Capture the Colour Photoblogging Challenge 2013

Travel Supermarket is running its Capture the Colour photblogging contest for the second time this year. I didn’t get to participate last year, so I’ve been looking forward to it this time around. It sounded like such great fun, and a totally valid excuse to scan my archives for photos containing the beautiful colours that I have seen around the world.

To enter I must submit 5 photos highlighting 5 different colours. Here is my entry:

White

Abu Dhabi

Whenever I think white, my mind instantly treks away to the most magnificent white thing that I have ever seen in my life, the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi. This architectural wonder would have been fascinating enough if it wasn’t painted such a regal and pure colour, the white just makes it utterly magical I believe…

Blue

Kenya Safari

I expected to see all kinds of handsome predators during an African safari; the last thing I thought would bring me out of the safety of the safari vehicle to the bare wild is this tiny blue bird, standing in the middle of the road to nowhere! Its striking blue feathers mesmerized me, and I had to have a photo of it…

Red

Italy

The red roofs of Venice, as seen from the San Marco Campnile. This view truly took my breath away when I first saw it. I think of it every time I remember our remarkable trip to Venice. So romantic, so medieval, so easy on the eyes, I couldn’t help but fall in love with it.

Yellow

UAE

When watching the sun rise, that tiny yellow circle at the bottom of the horizon becomes the centre of the universe. We took a hot air balloon ride to watch this one over the city of Al Ain, on our 2nd wedding anniversary day last year. It was quite memorable.

Green

Mauritius

There was much to see and admire at the Pamplemousses Botanical Garden in Mauritius, but these giant water lilies are one of the features that bring nature lovers and spectators here from all over the world.

Participants are asked to nominate 5 other bloggers to take part in the contest, but you don’t need to be nominated to enter. My nominees are:

Compass and Camera

Chandani @Sheikh-land

Road Tripping Europe

La Mere Culinaire

Footsteps of a Wanderer

The winner could walk away with an iPad, a Fuji Camera, an Arc’teryx shopping voucher, or an overall prize of 3 thousand pounds worth of travel fund. Wish me good luck 🙂

Visit the contest’s page for more details.

Enjoy the colour in your life….
